March 16th launched Teller AS, the company managing Visa and MasterCard
payments in Norway, a new secure payment service for e-Commerce in the Internet
in Norway. The service covers immediately 585.000 card holders of DnB NOR (
Gjensidige NOR Sparebank) and its co-operating banks. Additional card holders
will be added later 2004.
The service is based on Modirum MDpay
product family.
585.000 card holders and 300 Norwegian e-Shops from the beginning
550.000 Visa and 35.000 MasterCard Norwegian card holders can make secure
payments in 300 Verified by Visa e-Shops and in 60 MasterCard SecureCode e-Shops
in in Norway, in addition to thousands of e-Commerce sites worldwide.
Shopping in the Internet has exploded in Norway. Only last year expanded the
use of Visa-cards by 146 % compared to year before. The value of the e-Commerce
via Norwegian in the Internet was 3,2 Billion NOK (400 Million EUR) in 2003.
The growth continues: Only in first quarter 2004 it was e-Shopped for over one
Billion on the Internet with Norwegian Visa-card.
